EMERALDS ANNUAL “OH SAY CAN YOU SING” CONTEST TO BE HELD AT VALLEY RIVER CENTER ON MAY 16TH

EUGENE – The Emeralds, along with Valley River Center and Cumulus Broadcasting will conduct the 3rd Annual "Oh Say Can You Sing" contest at Center Court of Valley River Center on Saturday, May 16th starting at 12:00 p.m.

Contestants will be asked to perform one of three patriotic tunes - the Star Spangled Banner, God Bless America or O' Canada.
 
Registration is open to the first 75 hopefuls. Interested applicants must register by phone at 541-342-5367.  Once registered, each entrant will be assigned a scheduled time to audition before a panel of judges which includes John Frederick from 96.1 KZEL and Justin Myers from 97.9 NRQ.

Requirements for the tryout are as follows:

  •  All auditions are voice only – No tracks or musical accompaniment will be allowed 
  •  Must choose to sing only one of the three songs
  •  Lyrics must be memorized
  •  Featured song must be completed in under two minutes
 
Each participant at the event will be critiqued publicly, and either excused or invited to perform at an Emeralds game during the 2009 season. All registrants will receive a free gift from the Ems just for participating.
