Hitfix just broke the news that Gotham has officially been picked up for a second season! The official Gotham twitter account has verified the news. I gotta say, this is probably the best drama to come out of Fox since 24.

What Bruno Heller has done with this series is both fresh and ground breaking. The producers over there at Fox have re-written history known for years on characters like James Gordon, Oswald Cobblepot, Edward Nigma and Harvey Dent, but also added characters that have real value to the plot and can now be prominently featured in the books. Fish Mooney being the main character that comes to mind.

There was tons of doubt and speculation on how you could make a successful show about Batman without including…well, Batman. Looks like the creators of Gotham have solved that riddle!

New episodes of Gotham air Monday nights at 8:00pm PT on FOX.
